Alice Holden Bock, Educational Director
Ms. Alice began her dance career in Jacksonville, Florida under the direction of Mervyn W. Rickard. She received extensive training from Bill Martin-Viscount at the Southwest Ballet Center in Arlington, Texas, The American Ballet Theatre, and Joffrey Ballet's American Ballet Center. As a soloist with Dance Alive!, she toured throughout the Midwest and a, Southeast in over 100 performances each year. Her former credits include the Joffrey Ballet and the Bay Ballet Theatre. While a soloist with Ballet Guild of Jacksonville, she became assistant to the director. Her responsibilities included choreographing ballets and teaching company classes. She went on to choreograph N for many regional ballet companies throughout Florida.
Alice has had many of her ballet and jazz works performed at the Southeastern Regional Dance Association. Through her career, Alice has worked with such great choreographers and teachers as Ann Burton, Meredith Baylis, Richard Thomas, Maggie Blac , Elizabeth Carroll, Bobbie Barnette, Gus Giordano, Judy Skinner, Kim Tuttle, and the late Robert Joffrey.
After many years of dancing, teaching, and choreographing for different schools and ballet companies, she became Director of The Dance Center and Artistic Director of the Brandon Ballet. She has choreographed and staged many original and full length classical ballets. She has brought many quality professionals together to help dancers build a solid foundation in all styles of dance. Dancers raised through the excellent training program of Brandon Ballet and the school have gone on to dance with other prestigious professional ballet companies all over the country. Now she takes great pride in guiding and watching the Brandon Ballet grow to a professional ballet company.
