Ballet & Jazz Dance Instructor

TITLE: Dance Instructor

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Dance Teacher to join our team and inspire students of all ages and skill levels. The ideal candidate will be responsible for nurturing the well-being and success of their students while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. This role requires an enthusiastic teacher who can motivate and encourage students, as well as a calm and level-headed instructor who can adapt to various teaching situations.

Currently seeking instructors for: Ballet, Combo, Jazz

Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Planning and delivering high-quality dance classes for students of various technique levels
  • Teach various dance styles and techniques, such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, or other specified styles, as per the contract
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities within the class.
  • Taking attendance and tracking DNS (Did Not Show) students, helping with contacts as needed 
  • Incorporating leadership principles and lessons into their teaching 
  • Developing choreography and selecting costumes for dance performances 
  • Assisting with rehearsals and performances as assigned by the studio director and/or lead instructor 

 

Qualification:

  • Ability to carry students from a beginner to an intermediate level of technique. 
  • Proven experience as a dance teacher or instructor.
  • Proficiency in one or more dance styles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students of all ages.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Willingness to undergo background checks as required by the institution.
  • A strong commitment to the well-being and success of each student.

Overview:

The Brandon Ballet Youth Ensemble is seeking an experienced and passionate Artistic Director to lead our youth ballet company in its artistic vision and execution. The Artistic Director will work closely with the executive director, board members, and other key staff to establish the artistic goals and direction of the company while providing opportunities for young dancers to excel and grow. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in ballet, exceptional leadership abilities, and a passion for nurturing young talent.

Responsibilities:

  • Artistic Vision: Develop and communicate the artistic vision and direction for the Brandon Ballet Youth Ensemble, including selecting repertoire, choreographing or commissioning new works, and organizing performances and events.
  • Programming: Plan and schedule a season of performances, including choosing works that align with the company’s mission and showcase the talent of the young dancers.
  • Choreography: Create original choreography or collaborate with guest choreographers to enhance the company’s repertoire.
  • Teaching and Mentorship: Provide artistic guidance and mentorship to young dancers, offering training and support to help them reach their full potential.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the executive director, board members, and other key staff to plan and execute the company’s artistic goals.
  • Outreach: Represent the company in the community and work to build relationships with other arts organizations, schools, and supporters.
  • Production Oversight: Oversee all artistic elements of productions, including casting, rehearsals, and stage management.
  • Budget Management: Work within established budgets for productions and artistic programming, making cost-effective decisions while maintaining artistic quality.
  • Evaluation and Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to dancers and staff to promote growth and development.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the health and safety of all participants in rehearsals and performances, implementing appropriate safety measures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a ballet dancer, choreographer, and artistic leader.
  • Strong knowledge of classical ballet repertoire and current trends in dance.
  • Excellent teaching and mentorship skills, with a passion for working with young dancers.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of budget management and cost-effective production planning.
  • Bachelor’s degree in dance, performing arts, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for youth ballet training.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required for rehearsals and performances.

Availability:

  • Must be available to direct company rehearsals on Fridays 6:00p-9:30p AND Saturdays 11:30a-6:30pm.
